Commissions

Before beginning an art commission, it is essential to evaluate your ideas and refine your vision. Understand why you want the artwork and what you want to achieve with it, consider how to communicate this to me during our commission engagement.

Here’s a breakdown of working together

  • Establish the specifications such as size, colors (paint chips work the best), composition, timeframe and budget.

Quality original reference. Am I recreating one of my pieces or do you have something original in mind? If original, it helps to have multiple original reference photos to get my best work. The photos must be original as to avoid copyright issues.

    • Agreement on parameters

    • Commission summary (contract) signed (dates + deposit) — starting with a $100 non-refundable fee for creating a sketch sample

      DIscovery -

    • Create the sketch sample (size TBD) and electronically email client for approval. Color is based on paint chips sent by client

    • Approval needed to continue - up to 2 revisions included

      Development

    • Working - client review via pictures or virtual session

    • Revision - 1 edit is included - additional revisions are a flat rate of $60/revision cycle - may affect the delivery schedule

      Delivery

    • Final client review and approval (images emailed)

    • Invoicing, includes shipping and MA state tax (6.25%)

    • Payment received

    • Ship painting

  • You will have first right of refusal, however, if the piece is original to you, I will keep the initial fee for work-to-date

A commission is a blending of client hopes and artist vision; it’s best not to be too prescriptive and yet not too vague — this allows both parties to work in partnership and the magic to happen.
